Homeless Men Win Settlement Over City Ordinance
03-29-2007 7:12 AM
-- Three homeless men who were arrested under an ordinance that made it a crime to sleep within 500-feet of human waste have won a 45-thousand-dollar settlement with the City of Las Vegas.
Last November, the three men were arrested under the measure, even though it was rescinded by the City Council. ACLU attorney Lee Rowland says the three men did not even realize the human waste was nearby when they were taken into custody.
Rowland says the now-extinct ordinance was targeted at the homeless population. The lawsuit was originally for two-million-dollars, but a quick settlement was reached where each of the three homeless men received a check for ten-thousand-dollars. Their attorney took home 15-thousand-dollars for his efforts.
And it was probably THEIR waste--which is why they couldn't smell it?
ROTFL So each of the 'homeless' men got $10,000 and the ATTORNEY got $15,000!! Now THAT is the SH*TS!!

Hello Nancy
It is good to see that you are back posting, hope you are feeling better. heard you were i'll, I stop by from time to time, although you and I hardly ever agree on anything, got to hand it to you lady, you have outdone yourself this time..... And NO doubt if the ACLU was involved in this bundle of dodo it stinks to the Hi-Heavens, because everytime they walk into a courtroom it smells like a toilet, I'm waiting for someone to flush it...lotsa love....Harold

Jentin said, "Hmmmm hafta wonder why Las Vegas has such a law. I wonder how it originated."
I guess with all that fertilizer lying around, it just sort of "sprung up"! rotfl
I do know that LV gets overrun with homeless, especially during the winter months elsewhere. Looking for more info, I found that there were large groups using some public parks, even using small shack towns, and the people in the area hit their councilmen over it and they acted too dumb, too fast. Anyway, the law no longer exists. Oh, yeah--the homeless still do, and some are a bit richer. ROTFL
